Two employees at Level Five Strategy receive plaque for supporting employment of people with disabilities

Life After School leads to success for employers and students

Four of our partners, Air Canada, Borden Ladner Gervais, Level5 Strategy Group and Norton Rose Fulbright have been great supporters of the Life After School pilot project for co-op students with disabilities. Each has or is looking to hire at least one student for the winter and/or summer terms.

Our partners have created specific positions for students, drawing interested candidates from Humber College’s Law, Business and Media programs.  Most will have taken advantage of the Life After School pilot’s workshop on disability awareness to prepare the team. The successful candidates will be expected to meet all the job requirements and workplace objectives and goals. Their employers will understand the opportunities associated with the school and its students, as well as see how accessible and inclusive their work environment is. One employer has had to have the owners of their 4-year-old building install automatic washroom door openers!

What does a powerful Life After School moment look like? As one senior manager said: This has worked out so well for us. I would like to have a regular pipeline of law clerk students coming through the firm on their co-op terms.
