RBC has been a founding member and valued partner of SenseAbility since 2014. Over the last 18 months as COO and now CEO of SenseAbility, I have had the pleasure of getting to know and work with outstanding leaders at RBC. I’ve gotten to know their recruitment team, energetic and committed individuals, usually seen wearing their signature “blue” team shirts at conferences, recruitment, and community events.
Vivian Li, Senior Manager Inclusive Recruitment, is part of this incredible team. With an authenticity that welcomes thoughtful conversation and idea exchange, and a smile and sense of humour that radiates, one quickly realizes the depth of commitment from leaders like Vivian, that has made RBC so successful in leading diversity and inclusion in Canada. Of note is RBC’s commitment to empowering youth to succeed in the increasingly dynamic and complex world of employment. Vivian and her colleagues, Mike Hamilton, SVP of RBC Insurance and Alelie Ocampo, RBC Career Edge Program Manager, were recently honoured at the 2018 Career Edge Awards Gala as recipients of the Milestone Award for most careers launched in a single fiscal year (125 interns in 2017) and an Intern of the Year Award for a graduate with disability category. As Vivian expressed, “I was a Career Edge intern many years ago and the program helped me launch my career in Canada. Now my team is managing the program for RBC. It is truly a journey of full circle. For me, it is both rewarding and humbling to pay it forward and help many others launch their careers in such a great company like RBC that truly champions diversity and inclusion.”
